IANSA Women’s Network marks International Women’s Day

IANSA Women all over the world are celebrating International Women’s Day on 8 March, highlighting the campaign Disarm Domestic Violence, and calling for the inclusion of references to gender based violence in the Arms Trade Treaty. Many have also signed onto a statement on Improving the Human Security of Women in Conflict Zones. It was issued by the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC) on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2012 and in line with the topic of this year’s Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). The statement highlights UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women Peace and Security and calls for “Full participation of rural women in all decision-making processes on peace and security, from local communities to global policy processes”.
