Pakistan: IANSA member mobilises for arms control in North-West border regions

In Pakistan, IANSA member Alliance for Peace & Disability Rights (APDR) and SPRING International have organised a series of events to raise awareness and mobilise around arms control in schools and local communities in conflict affected areas in the Swat District. APDR also held meetings with its member organisations, local community elders and religious scholars to discuss and share views on the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) ahead of the 2012 negotiations. They report that they have reached over 300 people so far and are planning similar events in the districts of Peshawar and Charsadda in the coming weeks. APDR is also regularly disseminating information on the ATT to all its associates. Pictures from the events are available on our Flickr page here.
