Report on disarmament and security challenges in Libya

Over 125,000 civilians are thought to be armed in Libya; many of them part of militias that have been involved in violent clashes in the period after the ousting of the Qadhafi regime, according to a new report by the International Crisis Group. It includes an analysis of the challenges facing Libya’s new authorities in their efforts to promote security and makes recommendations on how to begin the process of disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration (DDR).
