IANSA Women at WILPF International Congress

From 31 July to 3 August women campaigners from all over the world gathered at the International Congress of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF). IANSA woman Sarah Masters was one of two key note speakers. She highlighted the small arms and the link with UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security. She also spoke about women’s engagement in the Arms Trade Treaty process. IANSA members from Nigeria, DR Congo, Pakistan and Spain also participated in the Congress and made successful applications to become new WILPF country sections. The participants said it was a good example of collaboration within the women’s movement working on peace and security.
